What a great winter this is in North Park, with opportunities for fun, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and so many photo ops to choose from.
This weekend is the Delaney Buttes Ice Fishing Contest with a grand prize of $1000. Come on and get your fish on.
Recent activities have been a big hit with a lot of great people coming and enjoying what Walden has to offer. The Ron Sessions Memorial Golf Tournament registered about 90 3 person teams and the weather was very cooperative. Sponsored by the Jackson County Lions Club, this fundraiser allows the Lions to pay out for scholarships, help people who need glasses and enjoy the spirit of Christmas by giving to the children of the community.
Also the Lake John/Cowdrey Lake Ice Fishing Contest brought out 280 plus fisher (men, women, and youth).
Come on and check us out in North Park, where wildlife, the old west, and great food and lodging are waiting. Be sure to stop into the Moose Creek Cafe for friendly chat and great food at great prices.
Ok, here it is already Labor Day weekend and the kids are all back in school. Archery season has begun and the fish are jumping just for anglers to get into the swing of the seasons.
What are your plans? Have you been up on Cameron Pass to see the five (5) yep, five bull Moose hanging out up at the parking lot on top? They are in full view for your camera’s pleasure. Recently I was driving from Granby and spotted a Cow with her two calves, this is a Moose Cow, not the dairy type or you know, the next burger you might enjoy…. wandering across the highway…. okay wandering was like three steps and they were across and then over the fence. It sure is great to see the wildlife in North Park. Come soon, as it’s going to get chilly soon and the snow will be flying too.
Be sure to stop into the Moose Creek Cafe for a refreshing beverage and a great burger, sandwich or burrito.
Hey all, come on up to North Park to enjoy the annual migration of our aviary friends. There are over 100 species of birds migrating to the south for the wintery months. Be sure to bring your cameras. Then, stop by and share your experiences with us at the Moose Creek Cafe and enjoy a hearty meal and a hot cup of coffee.
Summer in the North Park is time to relax, spend time with friends and family and to go to the Moose Creek Café to share a good meal. But what is a good lunch or a good dinner without an appealing dessert ?
Homemade pies, cheesecakes, insanity of chocolate for the stronger appetite and sundaes or cones of ice-cream for the young people, we reinvent for you the pleasure to share a dessert!
Come and enjoy our new menu of the desserts, and share your suggestions. Thank you!
Tuesday 30th of July, two young men visiting and working in Walden, CO, will attempt to climb one of the fourteeners of Colorado : Longs Peak, 14259 ft.
With the help of the Moose Creek Cafe, Geoffrey Obry (Alps, France) and Cody Hess (Texas) will leave from Grand Lake for a 5-days hike in the Rocky Mountain NP and thus terminate their stay in Walden by a challenging adventure.
Longs Peak is not the most difficult neither the steepest but overhanging Denver it’s one of the most emblematic of this part of the Rockies, and it’s still over 14000ft!
Cody and Geoffrey are travelling across America thanks to Help Exchange, website that connect hosts and travelers. They stayed in Walden one month working at the Moose Creek Cafe, and this one decided to help them to achieve this new adventure.
I stayed in Walden 6 weeks now and I met a lot of wonderful people. It means a lot to me to be supported by the Moose Creek Cafe and people of Walden to climb one of the fourteeners, what was one of my goal coming in America. I want to go up there and be able to say “I have been over the top of the Rockies thanks to the Moose Creek Cafe and people of Walden”.
Not many people get to experience the travelers life style, I’ve been on the road for over a month now and here in Walden I’ve learned so much and experienced some amazing things. This hike will be one story I hope I can tell my grandchildren.
And a word of the sponsor, James Carothers, owner of the Moose Creek Cafe.
“It has been a wonderful and rewarding experience to have hosted so many young people over the past several years. When Geoffrey and Cody came and said they wanted to climb Longs Peak to the summit I thought what a great feat for these two travelers who have crossed into our path. They asked if I could help to sponsor them by giving them food for their journey and after all the assistance they have given, I had to say yes. “Just bring lots of pictures back”, I told them. Wishing them God speed in their adventures.” James C.
